Where Peter baptized Cornelius, From whence Paul set sail and was later Imprisoned
Caesarea is where Peter baptized the first gentile convert to Christianity as noted in Acts 10.
From the Roman seaport “Sebastos” built by King Herod, was from whence Paul set sail to preach the gospel in communities all over the Mediterranean.
It is also where, later on, Paul was imprisoned for two years, wrote part of the new testament and made his powerful speech before Felix, King Agrippa and Festus, as noted in Acts 12-25:6.
There is lots to see and do here:
Visit the marvel of engineering of the seacoast amphitheater, where historically Jews and Christians were fed to the lions. Part of the Ceasarea National Park.
Be sure to see the stone-encrypted commemoration of Pontius Pilot (whom sentenced Jesus).
See the remains of the roman bathhouse, administrative center and public toilets from back in the day. The ruins of the seafront Promontory Palace include the remains of a mosaic floor.
Sebastos sea port was one of the largest seaports on the eastern Mediterranean, constructed of volcanic ash.
Christianity’s largest library once was stationed in Caesarea. Now there is a museum.
The sunset – is a must see if you are able to arrange it.
